There are actually quite a few shops that do digital prints over there now. However, internet usage in the cafes charges you per megabyte of transfer, so it's not too feasible to send lots of pictures home that way or upload them to a picture store service, and you may not be able to connect up to a computer there to transfer them at all, depending where you are. Sending the memory card home via snail mail is a little risky too, but I know some who have done it that way. You shouldn't have any problem if you hold onto the memory cards for the duration of the mission and/or print out prints there to send home.

I would use film. I don't know what you would do with the disks in Russia. I haven't been there in a while, but my guess is that they don't have the technology in the stores to print or save digital pictures.

I just got called to Yekaterinburg, Russia yesterday (01/01/06). I report to the Provo MTC April 25th. It's good reading all the advice all over the internet. I know very little about Russia, and Yekaterinburg. I know no Russian. I just think it's amazing this feeling I have... because I know it's where I am supposed to go. It's a very calm feeling. I am going to be studying Russian full on until I get to the MTC, because I think I'll need all the time I can get. If anyone has any tips/advice/whatever for me, email me at mitchellholder@gmail.com ! Tip on boots, to coats, to food, to additional items or whatever! I'm am VERY excited, but don't know what to expect at all! Thanks everyone!
