Richard, an open loving heart, that's all you need. Russia is much different from US, especially from Orem, Utah. And Russian people differ a lot from your neighbors. Prepare to be loved by members; they are more than just excited to meet you and seek for your spiritual support, your example, your love. Russian people do not smile at you, passing by on the street, but there is a lot to discover in their hearts once you try to get to know them better. Prepare to be chastened by street kids, when they will run after you, as you walk down the street, yelling, "How do you do?" :) And also, missionary apartments are not the best, but it won't really matter in the service to the Lord and building the Kingdom of God :) And, yes, learn how to cook fast something significantly filling using natural products. And don’t waste money on warm clothing shopping before you go; there are tons of clothes in Russia that you can buy for less money. Actually shoes might worth buying here, in US. Well, everything will be just fine! Yekaterinburg mission is the best mission in Russia! (I am being bias here) Next two years are going to be some of the best, exciting, precious years of your life! Howdy! My name is Richard Brown from Orem Utah. I enter the MTC on July 6th 2005, and then I'm headed to Yekaterinburg to serve! I would love to hear from some of you who have served there. Any advice, info, stories, or warnings, as I am preparing to leave, would be excellent. I am so thrilled to go and serve the people of Russia!
