I go to Macomb Christian school and I am in a Missions class. the grade for the missions class is 10-12. One of our projects is to contact missionaries and ask them questions about missions life. I am looking for missionaries to contact with. I hope that you can help me out.God Bless.

Dear Friends,
My friend, a returned missionarie, has recommended me this web-site to look for the students for my project.
I teach people (mainly from the USA) Russian language using brand new internet technologies with a live tutor on-line. The quality of voice transmission is exellent.
I am a native Russian speaker, live in Ukraine.
If you are interested, write me to get a free lesson.
My e-mail address: Annamor@list.ru
Thanks a lot. - - - - - - - -

I am looking for information on an Elder Mike Seeber who served about 10 months in this mission from 2003-2004. I think he came home in April or May of this year and his President was Gee. He is almost engaged to my sister, but I don't know him very well. He came home early from the mission and I just want to know more about they guy. Something just doesn't sit right with me about him.
Thanks! - - - - - - - -

Written by Elder Thomas Mealey
Well I made a list of the first 10 things I learned to do and not to do in Russia... and here they are:
1) Pedestrans DO NOT have the right of way... even on sidewalks or crosswalks.
2) If the Bus/Subway Car/Trolly/Whatever is full... that just means you can only squeeze a few more people in... like 10 or 12. They really do pack themselves into those vehicals.
3) if you are lost... just put your hand out next to a street, and a car will pull over, and you pay them just like you would a taxi. usually about 15 roubles ($0.50)
4) Don't drink the water. NO EXCEPTIONS! It can be lethal. unless it is super filtered and or boiled.
5) Meat is widly available... on street corners... in the open air markets.... in small shops... COOK IT WELL! or even better yet... don't eat it.
6) Vodka is considered a food group in Russia...
7) Everyone believes in God... even if they are Athiest.
8) If something just dosn't happen... it happens in Russia.
9) Baskin Robins is GOOD! and CHEAP! for a quart... it is 65 rubles (about $2.85)
10) Grandmothers are the nations protectors! They are wierd... they will chew you out for not wearing a hat outside when it is cold... they will chew you out for having a dirty jacket... They spit better than most men I know... They can cary 100kg bags of sugar over their sholders and still run a minute mile... and many more things. They are easily spotted... they are short... rather large (you think it is fat ...however... it is 100% pure MUSCLE!) and can push their way into any crowded vehical.
(On Tue, 9 Mar 1999 Laura, elder Mealey writes: Thank you so much for posting this. My brother is in the Moscow South mission and we hear almost weekly from him via email, and letters. He is in the city of Smolensk. Laura in GA)

Great idea, Cheryl - I have talked with others from the Efimov era about the same thing many times, but we have never put anything serious together... Maybe we could plan something around the holidays this year?? If anyone from the Efimova era is interested in something like this, please post. - - - - - - - -

Regina, there are alumni sites for all Russian missions. To locate them, just go to www.mission.net and you can look them up. - - - - - - - -
