Well, I just got off of my mission not too long ago, so I thought that I would write this short message to all of returned missionaries to let you know how the mission stands as of now. My last city to serve in was Chelyabinsk. The church and missionaries were registered there two weeks before I left, so it is open to the work. The mission is very young with over 90 percent of the missionaries under a year in Russia. The mission is in for a change with these elders however seeing as they are the new batch after our prophet "raised th bar". There are some fine missionaries out there to take care of those members that you cared for when you served at one time in the Yekaterinburg mission. Yekaterinburg is building a chapel, and Chelyabinsk bought a building and are remodeling as of now. The work moves forward.

Cectpa Miller should be arriving at Yekaterinburg sometime soon. Perhaps today, October 21, 2003. She phoned me (her father) yesterday evening from O'Hare International Airport in Chicago. She is very excited about her mission. She has a heart as big as Russia. You'll know her when you see her. She's the one with the big smile.

I got this interesting e-mail recently and thought I'd share it incase anyone is interested who lives in the area: .....To whom it may concern,
My name is Chad Parker. I am the MTC Program Director in the Jacobsen Center at BYU. I help the MTC to get volunteers for the TRC. I noticed you are listed as the contact person for a mission reunion and I would like to ask your help in reminding the returned missionaries to volunteer at the TRC.
The TRC has changed its schedule recently to include another aspect called the TE or teaching experience. More volunteers are needed now than ever before. I have attached a schedule that includes all of the language sessions being given. If you could have an announcement made promoting the TRC, it would be great. It would be even better if you could announce the times available for the language of your mission and pass a sign up sheet around. Sign-up sheets can be brought to the Jacobsen Center and left in the MTC Program box. I will make sure the information is submitted to the MTC. (The contact information needed is shown on the attached sign up sheet). Let everyone know that they are not obligated to attend every time the MTC contacts them, but that volunteering allows the MTC to ask for their help as it is needed.
I want to share with you part of the vision of the MTC Program: "The MTC Program will help provide the necessary volunteers for the work to 'go forth' unhindered as projected 'unto every/all nation(s), kindred(s), tongue(s), and people" (Alma 37:4, 1 Nephi 5:18, JS-H 1:33, D&C 42:58). As I thought about this vision and reviewed the many mission reunion contacts I am e-mailing I realized that the foundation of missionary work has been set and with the help of volunteers to run the current programs, the MTC will be able to expand its reach until one day it does reach all of the ends of the earth and its many languages.
The spirit of the work kindles a fire in me, truly testifying that this is God's work. I am awed by the magnitude of it. I hope I haven't taken too long to send this e-mail and the TRC schedule that is attached. And I hope you have the opportunity to share this opportunity with those who have served the Lord so honorably in your respective missions.

hey this is an old timer checkin in('96-'98). it is awesome to think of all the progress that is happening in this mission. is there anyone that can give me an update on how many cities are open and how many members there are in the mission and whether or not chili has gotten registration yet. i was working on it with the origianla lawyer back in 1997 and we thought it had been too long then. i can't imagine what it might be like now. anyways. any information would be much appreciated.
