Hi everyone. I just wanted to let you all know that as a foreigner I am very impressed with the way Americans are handling the tragic events of last week. It is wonderful to see how the people pull together in the face of the tragedy, how they respond to the attack and its consequences that are simply beyond comprehension. This is truly an amazing country, where democrats fully support the President they so despised just a day ago, where such minute things are taken care of as your pet abandoned in the evacuated area, where psychologists go on national TV to advise adults on helping children cope with disaster, and where people bring flowers to the gas station the owner of which has been killed in a hate crime. And even though I am still not a citizen of this country, I am proud to be a part of this nation, and to belong to this wonderful people.
I also thank the author of the posting below for saying such nice things about my fellow Russians. On the day of the attack I called my mom and for the first few minutes after saying hello she couldn't speak because she was sobbing so hard. She knew we wouldn't be hurt because we live in Arizona, but she was just terrified at what had happened. I know of people who donated blood or money to help United Stated with the disaster. Please know that our hearts ache for you and that every Russian I know is glued to the TV just as we are here, hoping for some good news of people found alive in the rubble or course of retaliation.
Thank you for showing us this side of your nation -- so vulnerable and indestructible at the same time. - - - - - - - -

I just thought I would share with you some touching information I received from my missionary son who is presently serving in Yekat. The Russian people having heard about the attack on American, have been bringing the missionaries flowers in expressions of sympathy and support. Those special, special people!!!! - - - - - - - -

Well, after being almost 2 weeks over due, Julie and I finally had our baby. His name is Mason Andrew, and he was 8lbs 3oz and 20 and one half inches long. He is as cute as a babuska selling potatoes at a bus stop in January. Okay, not that cute, but we'll keep him anyway. - - - - - - - -

My little brother is serving in the Russia Yekaterinburg mission (just like his older brother) and just got transfered to Blagovezhensk, which he described as being just outside of Ufa. Apparently, they are starting a new branch there. Does anyone have any info on this city? Size, history, etc. would all be appreciated. I never got outside of Yekaterinburg myself, so I'm not as familiar with the other cities in the mission. BTW, he was in Perm for 6 months and says that things are going well there. Thanks! - - - - - - - -

Hello all! I'm just writing a quick note to ask for any advice about the Yekat mission. I'm so excited! What kind of boots, gloves, clothes, etc. are good to have? Feel free to contact me at demoonica@hotmail.com with any hints, warnings, advice, and any other good stuff that I might need to know! Thanks - - - - - - - -
