I see that Magnitogorsk is not included as one of the cities that is open, but I imagine that it is within the mission boundaries. I was there in 1990 as an exchange student, and left two Russian BofMs with two friends, both of whom were named Misha (Mikhail). Who knows if they are still in Magnitogorsk. Should anyone be involved in the work in that city, or should hear of any such Mishas, I would enjoy hearing about it. FYI, I served in the Latvia Riga Mission 92-94.

To all of you who have recently received your mission call to the Yekat Mission, I am excited for you and your families. My son has been there for awhile, and we have found that we are having the adventure right along with him. We have all learned so much about the country and the people. He has a deep respect for all that they put on the line to be Latter Day Saints. He loves Russia and the Russian people. He is happy and content. I hope that you will find this to be true for you. You and your families will be blessed for your efforts. We have found this to be true in so very many ways. Good luck to all of you.

I just read all 14 pages on this bulletin board. I loved it. I wish I had known about it long ago. My son, Elder Hopkin, will be finishing his mission the end of August. He has had a most incredible 2 years in the Yekatrinburg mission. We have loved receiving his emails, but this bulletin board is a great supplement. Do all the missionaries in the Yekat mission know about it and could they let their families know? I recognized many names as I read through everyone's notes. I know my son Andrew will love this website when he gets home. May God protect and guide you all. We pray for you all every day!

Wah hoo! I also just received my call to Yekaterinburg! I'm so excited! I like many others also have lots of questions like, recommendations on boots, is the water safe, do I need a purifier, sleeping bag? And most of all I would really like to know more about the people? If you have any information I would love to know! Thanks! ~Amy = )

I am in need of 3 or 4 R.M.s in the Salt Lake area that want to do service for the Russian elderly in Salt Lake City on a once-a-month commitment basis a.s.a.p. Talk about service with benefits of keeping up your language!I've been delivering food boxes to them for over a year now but am moving to San Jose. They are in urgent need for Russian speakers. Email me. Thanks.

Hello, I have been called to serve in the Yekaterinburg mission on Sept.26. I was just wondering about the boots. Does anybody know how high they should come up, or any recommendations would be great. Should they be 10", 8", 6", 12" or higher? I really want to get some comfortable boots because I will be walking in them all day. Also if anybody knows some good brands that have worked well I would appreciate your input. Thank you all so much. Daniel

I got this today in an e-mail from my son, Elder Jesse St.Cyr who will complete his mission at Ufa in August. I'm sure it's welcome news to a lot of the 'alumni.' ----------- On Sunday, the 22nd, the Blagoveshensk branch of the Church was organized. President and Sister Hall were there,as were President and Sister Solomein (President Hall's second counselor in the mission presidency), as well as President Egoshin (Ufa district president). The meeting went very well. We are all thrilled to have a branch out in Blagoveshensk. It makes the program of the church and the blessings of the sacrament much more accessible for our members. If you could pass this info along to Ryan Reynolds and Jacob DaBell I think they might like to know. Sergey Rogozhnikov was called as branch president with Pavel Chernov and Maksim Egoshin as his counselors. We have spent a good deal of the first half of this week taking care of some of the organizational details involved in setting up a branch. We needed to gather some of the paperwork that branches use to report attendance and their financial activities, for example. By financial activities I mean receipt of tithing and other offerings and expenditure of budget and of fast offerings (used to help those in need).
